Dan Ballard Photography
Sept 8 -10, 2017

Cost: $1125.00 ($300 deposit due at registration, balance due on Aug 8, 2017)

Class size limited to 6!

The Silverton-Ouray area in Southwest Colorado is stunning.  Mountain peaks rise in every direction and waterfalls can be found around every corner...  If you know where to look and have a 4WD that is!  In this workshop we will explore the dirt roads and mountain passes in the area, in search of great photographs.  One of the most rewarding aspects of photography is finding and creating original, unique images, that few others have seen.  This area is full of awesome, potential images, that have rarely been seriously photographed.  We will visit montain lakes and waterfalls and stay in the charming historic mining town of Silverton.

The purpose and goal of this workshop is to show you new and interesting shooting locations that you may not find on your own; and to help you learn how to find great locations in general, without the normal limits of a group workshop.

This is not a jeep tour or intended to be a "hardcore" off road experience.  The idea is to go to awesome locations and make great images, no matter where they happen to be.   Many locations we will visit are on well maintained dirt roads; others will be on challenging 4wd only trails and mountain passes.

This is an intensive, instructional workshop, with the number one goal of helping you become a better photographer.  Dan works with each student, one-on-one, throughout the class and will help you learn new ideas and technique, no matter your skill level.   Dan will always be with the group: giving thoughts, advice and real time critique as the light changes.  The workshop will include a classroom session on creating more effective images; a Lightroom session on photo editing; and a critique session that will break down your images and give you new ideas on how to improve.  The workshop will also include many in field assignments designed to help you see the world in a different way.  This short workshop will be jam packed with instruction and new ideas.  You will go away a better photographer!

"...I have to say (and I'm not just saying this) your workshops are far, far better... there is a world of difference!  This seems to be a location workshop where he just takes us out and says, "ok, we'll shoot here for a while and meet back here in a bit."  Then, he whips out his gear and heads off to get shots.  While with yours (and I feel you intend it to be this way), not only are we at some sweet locations, there is so much more education on why this particular location is good and meaty experience with you helping in the actual shooting.  I appreciate your style and your effort to be a good teacher and mentor.  So good job Dan, you the man! ;)"     -Travis Klingler
