MUSIC MEADOWS RANCH PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Dan Ballard Photography
June 2 - 4, 2017
COST: $925.00 ($300 due upon registration, balance due by May 2, 2017)
A herd of horses running against a mountain backdrop at sunrise, old barns, cowboys, homesteads, natural grasses, streams & so much more will all be a part of this fun exciting 3 day workshop! During the course of the workshop we will be visiting 2 beautiful ranches. The 1st, nestled at the foot of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains, sits at an elevation of 9,000 feet & is a true Colorado working cattle ranch. The picturesque 4,000-acre, Music Meadows Ranch, is operated by third generation family rancher Elin Parker Rusher. She works and manages the ranch and she prides herself on staying true to her roots and land. We will be visiting Elin on Saturday morning (very early). She will run her horse herd for us for some great sunrise shots, followed by the chance to photograph working cowboys. We will be having lunch with her in the ranch house. The 2nd ranch we will visit is The Historic Pine Ranch. The former dude ranch is now ran as an event center. We will be photographing their horse herd on Sunday morning as well as tack, saddles, etc in their barn. We will also be able to photograph their historic buildings, including an original 1890's kit house, their old west town, ponds, wagons & more! During the evenings we will photograph old barns in the Westcliffe area & depending on the light may pay a visit to the historic 1900's restored Beckwith Ranch.
Located in south-central Colorado, the Wet Mountain Valley may be the state's most beautiful and unspoiled mountain valley. The Valley is bordered on the east by the Wet Mountains and on the west by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains: the longest and straightest mountain range on earth. The Sangres' string of 13,000 and 14,000 foot snow-capped peaks tower over the 7,800-foot valley floor.
"Thank you Dan! This class was exactly what I was hoping for. Dan you are a great teacher and know just how to get someone excited about making great photos. I am definitely excited and can't wait to use everything I learned going forward. I also hope to take another one of your classes in the future!"
Dan has been fine tuning his workshops and methods of teaching photography for years. He is a very passionate and creative teacher, who believes in spending a large amount of the workshop instructing & giving assignments. He will give several group lectures as well as one-on-one instruction and critique to each student, catering to each individuals personal photographic level. Dan's goal for each workshop is to help you see the final printed image in your "mind's eye" before you push the button. You will learn Dan's entire process for creating powerful & dramatic images starting with where to shoot & why; how to master composition; understand light; set up your camera; & what you need to carry in your camera bag. Dan will also teach an afternoon session on LR post processing techniques. He uses a unique approach that leads to natural, but vibrant images. Dan is committed to helping you get images you will be proud of!

Please let Dan know if the apartment would work for you. Everyone that would like a private room needs to call Barb @ 719-783-2876 & give her your credit card info. The Courtyard B & B is also very nice. (719) 783-9616.
Transportation to & from the Westcliffe area is up to each individual participant. The COlorado Springs airport is the closest & about a 2 hour drive.
