Photography and Yoga Women's Retreat with Dan Ballard and Karen Voepel.  Escape to the tranquil Ojo Caliente Spa and Mineral Springs in New Mexico for three glorious nights.  Ojo is the only hot springs in the world with four different types of mineral waters, revitalizing those who soak in any of the eleven different pools ranging from 80 to 109 degrees.

Throughout your stay, bask in the various types of massage therapy sessions or spa treatments.  Breathe in the fresh air at an outdoor yoga session designed to rejuvenate and relax.  In the evening, enjoy the acclaimed Artesian Restaurant for Southwestern favorites or stop by the Wine Bar and Lounge for homemade delicacies, local cheeses and a fine selection of libations.

Dan Ballard and Karen Voepel have been working together throughout the years and now bring you what they love best - photography and yoga.  From Dan you will learn the art of capturing the light and color of the New Mexico landscape.  The ever-enchanting Ghost Ranch and Bandalier National Park, home of cliff dwellings and Pueblo ruins of the Anasazi Indians, and Lake Abiquiu are a photographer's dream garden for brilliant photography.  Enjoy a yoga session with Karen as she leads you through a series of stretches to unearth an awareness of your surroundings.  Tap into your creative potential by capturing the spirit of Georgia O'Keefe country while nourishing mind, body and spirit in one of the oldest natural health resorts in the country.  This photography retreat is open to all levels of photographers and yoginis.  Make your own reservation at one of Ojo Caliente's peaceful accommodations -- camping also available -- or stay with Karen at the Adobe House, located on property, with full kitchen and private outdoor area.   The Adobe House is the location for all classes and has four spacious and comfortable rooms, limited availability, for $125 per room (double occupancy) including use of the kitchen facilities and entrance to the mineral springs.  This retreat is available to 8 attendees.  Food and accommodations not included.  Please go to ojocalientespa.com to view accommodations or call Karen at 719.688.8000 for more information and to reserve your room at the Adobe House.

"Thank you Dan! This class was exactly what I was hoping for. Dan you are a great teacher and know just how to get someone excited about making great photos. I am definitely excited and can't wait to use everything I learned going forward. I also hope to take another one of your classes in the future!"

Dan has been fine tuning his workshops and methods of teaching photography for years.  He is a very passionate and creative teacher, who believes in spending a large amount of the workshop instructing & giving assignments.  He will give several group lectures as well as one-on-one instruction and critique to each student, catering to each individuals personal photographic level.   Dan's goal for each workshop is to help you see the final printed image in your "mind's eye" before you push the button.  You will learn Dan's entire process for creating powerful & dramatic images starting with where to shoot & why;  how to master composition;  understand light;  set up your camera;  & what you need to carry in your camera bag.  Dan will also teach an afternoon session on LR post processing techniques.  He uses a unique approach that leads to natural, but vibrant images.  Dan is committed to helping you get images you will be proud of!

Karen Voepel has been a certified retreat coordinator and certified yoga instructor since early 2002.  She is owner and instructor at Amache studio, an 1870s restored store building, on the Southeastern plains of Colorado.  Her love of photography has led her throughout the United States and Europe, trekking the mountains of Colorado, the hills of Italy, France, Ireland and throughout Canada.

"Attending this workshop was, under many points of view, the best idea I have ever had!   After the first day spent together,  I understood that you have a great gift...you have the skill to infuse other people with the confidence and the same great passion that you feel for your own work…and this is simply amazing:-)) Your many interests and your being always so full of positive energy really inspired me, not only in trying hard in the field of photography, but also in being a better person."
